Gucci Rush
Dec. 18th, 2021 09:35 amThis is another perfume I didn't buy for myself, but for my mother this time. Gucci Rush is a eau de toilette, formulated in the 1990s. I love the bottle...it's so simple but striking and cool 90s future plasticky.
My dad bought this for my mom while he was on a business trip to France (this must have been 1999 or 2000?), and she says it's the only perfume that she's ever really liked. Basically, she couldn't find it for a long time, so she hasn't been wearing it at all. Recently when I got into perfume we ended up talking about it, and it seems like it's back? I tried to find information on when it was reformulated but I couldn't find anything definite. There is a "Gucci Rush 2" (yes, really, and also I love this naming convention for perfume) but that's something separate.
According to Fragrantica, here are the notes of Gucci Rush:
- Top Notes: Peach, Gardenia, Freesia Petals
- Middle Notes: Coriander, Damask Rose, Jasmine
- Base Notes: Patchouli, Vanilla, Vetiver
Gucci Rush is a nice smell, not particularly sweet...it's more spicy. It's a really enjoyable smell, a little intoxicating but not overwhelming at all. I think it being an EDT also makes it a very light scent. I need to brush up on my floral scents somehow, because I can't pick out any singular flower from this, but it's quite nice and feels deep but not overpowering. I'm also not a good person to describe this scent because it reminds me so much of my mom.
I hope she likes this--I am fairly sure this is a reformulation from the one she would have had around 2000~2005, so it's possible it'll be different enough to notice. I think I mentioned this in a previous post, but reformulations are so common and yet they can really change a scent drastically. I guess this can happen with anything that you need to buy over and over again...but it just feels wrong somehow (LOL).
