ebaths: jotaro kujo looking at himself in the mirror seriously (self reflection)
Clickbait title: "OOOPS!! I accidentally got into this MEGA expensive hobby..."

So I've never worn fragrances before, but I've been interested in the concept for a while now. I think there's a lot of aspects of it I like, but one is definitely that it feels kind of "high fashion" but still allows me to wear whatever stupid clothes I want to. I've always liked when my friends have "signature scents" too...it's a very evocative thing to like, have a strong scent associated with yourself. Despite being interested in perfumes, I could never really differentiate between scents when trying them out in a department store and never smelled one where I thought "oh this is what I want to smell like". I remember smelling Marc Jacobs "Daisy" years ago and just thinking "okay, and?" (no offense to Daisy in particular hahaha it's not a bad scent by any means).

A visit to my friend who has some knowledge and experience in fragrances re-sparked my interest and I decided "hey, I have a real job now and some disposable income, why not just try some out?".

...Now I have entered the world of Fragrance Enjoyers.

I did what you should probably never do and just did a blind buy of two fragrances (detailed reviews to come later)...but it ended up working out great because I really love both of them. Both of them were inspired by my friend, so they weren't completely blind, but I hadn't smelled either of them (and as I've learned, you can never really tell if you'll like a perfume just based on the notes). So I'm being more cautious now (LOL).

More on this is surely to come...I wonder whether in six months I'll still be as "into it" as I am now (researching new scents, buying samples, reading reviews, etc). But I think now that I know a few scents I really like, I'll probably continue to wear them even if I lose interest in the "hobby" aspect of it.
